The image was gifted on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of The Netherlands Brain Bank.

A scientific image made by EBRAINS 2.0 researcher Dr. Roxana N. Kooijmans was selected as a gift to Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of The Netherlands Brain Bank.

The image depicts the human brain as a multimodal system, with different segments showing fibres, cytoarchitecture, and identified cell types, together with the original tissue they were acquired in.

The image was made in collaboration with EBRAINS Joint-CEO Prof. Katrin Amunts and EBRAINS researcher Prof. Dr. Markus Axer.
