Project Communications Content Officer

Admin, Finance and Project Assistant

The EBRAINS AISBL, based in Brussels, Belgium is looking for a:

Admin, Finance and Project Assistant (this position is based in Belgium)

Activities:

  • Support in the preparation of the financial reporting instructions for the whole consortium of partners (this applies when EBRAINS is the coordinator of the project) and coordinate the financial reporting processes of all the EC projects in the portfolio of EBRAINS and in line with the project’s timelines (this applies to all the activities: of all the EC projects in the portfolio of EBRAINS and in line with the project’s timelines)

  • Support the analysis and the use of the budgets by the partners of the consortium and write the financial sections of the reports (interim and periodic reports).

  • Support the distribution of EU funding to the partners of the consortium by calculating payments, preparing payment documentation, and processing partners' payment requests

  • Back up of the main contact for the tool(s) of reporting (presently EMDESK)

  • Support the preparation and implementation of the amendments with the partners of the consortium on the projects where EBRAINS is the coordinator of the project

  • Provide administrative support to the partners of the consortium and maintain efficient communication with them

  • Support administrative changes within the partners of the consortium

  • Support the handling of projects proposals

  • Contribute to the improvement and implementation of projects coordination workflows and procedures, best practices, and IT tools

  • Support the Project team, and particularly the Project Managers in their tasks in the different projects they are working on.

Profile:

  • Master’s degree in a field relevant to the position

  • 3-5 years of experience in management, administration and financial administration of European projects, preferably for an academic institution or a non-profit organization and in the science fields

  • Proven writing skills and track record of drafting content for different communications channels

  • Excellent speaking and writing/editing skills in English, other languages such as French is a plus.

  • Interest in science and technology topics

  • Familiarity with academic research and/or the science and technology sector of advantage

  • Good command of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premier), EMDESK and other reporting tools

  • Preferably knowledge of European platforms and research funding landscape

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, international environment

  • Communicative, well-organized and pro-active

  • A can-do attitude, eagerness to grow and to learn, and will do so proactively by own initiative through the guidance of manager and team members

Start date: as soon as possible.

Admin Finance And Project Assistant

Data & Knowledge Engineer

The EBRAINS AISBL, based in Brussels, Belgium is looking for a:

Data & Knowledge Engineer (this position is based in Brussels, Belgium)

Activities:

  • Design and development of (meta)data models and supportive tooling for the openMINDS metadata framework (https://openminds-documentation.readthedocs.io/en/latest/).

  • Monitoring and analyzing quality, effectiveness and interoperability of EBRAINS data and knowledge resources and related services (in particular, data and brain atlas services).

  • Facilitation of data and knowledge resource transfer and integration across EBRAINS tools and services.

  • Alignment of EBRAINS data and knowledge resources with the data and knowledge resources from other international research infrastructures, organizations, projects and platforms.

Profile:

Qualification requirements:

  • Confirmed advanced experiences as a data/knowledge engineer in a relevant field of life, computer, or library and information science.

  • Confirmed advanced experiences in development and/or application of open-source software, linked data, ontology, and (graph) database systems.

  • Knowledge of JSON-LD, schema formats (e.g. JSON-Schema, LinkML), and FAIR principles.

  • Proficiency using Python and/or Java, as well as git/GitHub.

  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach, ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, international and multidisciplinary environment.

  • Excellent communication, organization, English writing’/editing skills.

  • Interest in (neuro)science and technology.

  • Pro-active with a ‘can-do’ attitude, and an eagerness to grow/learn by own initiative through the guidance of team manager and members.

Start date: as soon as possible.
